This work package aims to minimise the need for copper (Cu) and mineral oils used for plant health control. It will build on the results and conclusions of previous research projects in the subject (especially the EU-funded project ‘CO FREE‘, targeting copper replacement in potato, apples and grapes). The solutions may be direct substitution but special emphasis will be given to the integration of alternatives into system approaches.
Objectives
1. Establish the extent and reason for the current use of Cu and mineral oils across Europe.
2. Identify the possible alternatives (including potential innovations as well as those currently available).
3. Identify the barriers to the use of alternatives (social, economic and technical) and develop pathways for their uptake.
4. Integrate alternatives and test system solution approaches.
